The OBDSTAR KeyMaster G3 is OBDSTAR's flagship device for key and immobiliser work: an 8-inch Android tablet with a quad-core 64-bit Cortex-A55, 4 GB RAM, 64 GB storage and a 9000 mAh battery. Where most key programmers require a separate interface unit, this device has CAN-FD, DoIP, low speed (fault tolerant) CAN, the OBD16 pinout switch, RFID and Remote Test built in. You don't need to carry extra boxes to the job.

Coverage extends from 102 car brands for immobiliser work to trucks, electric vehicles, motorcycles and marine vessels — five vehicle types in a single device. Beyond that, the G3 handles ECU Advanced and, with the appropriate licence, ECU Flasher, allowing you to read, write and clone control modules: for engine management across 137 brands, including agricultural vehicles and off-road machinery.

We supply the device in A1+A2 configuration, the complete set. This includes the MP001 programmer, the P004 adapter with jumper wires, the KeySim key simulator, the BENCH-A V3 and BENCH-B V2 wiring harnesses, the read and write boards C4-01 and C4-02 and the eight motorcycle adapters.

POINTS TO NOTE

✕Four feature modules are not included as standard: ODO Meter, ECU Flasher, Crash Reset and Test Platform are paid activations with their own licence. The full immobiliser and key functionality is included as standard.
✕It's a key and programming device, not an all-in-one tool: For complete system diagnostics with live data and actuator tests across all modules, consider a dedicated diagnostic device. The G3 handles standard OBD II diagnostics.
✕Bench work is part of the job: For certain ECU and EEPROM operations, the module comes out of the vehicle and soldering is required. The included wiring harnesses support this, but it's work for someone with experience.
✕Each module licence has its own expiry date: The four modules don't expire in sync with each other or with the device's update licence. You'll need to keep track of multiple dates.

Which model is right for you

OBDSTAR manufactures several key and programming devices. They don't differ in quality but in scope: where one device ends, the next begins.

Model What it's designed for
Key Master 5 Keys and immobiliser on cars via the diagnostic port. The entry-level model: no bench work, no EEPROM or MCU operations and no motorcycles. Sufficient if you mainly make and teach keys.
MK70 Keys and immobiliser on motorcycles, scooters, ATVs and UTVs. Focused on two-wheelers, not cars.
KeyMaster G3 (A1+A2)
This is the model you're looking at 		Five vehicle types in one device, plus EEPROM and MCU work on the bench and ECU operations. CAN-FD, DoIP, RFID and Remote Test are built in. The choice if you also work on removed modules or venture beyond cars.

If you're not looking for key work but ECU work or crash data, consider the DC706 (ECU programmer) or the P50 (crash data programmer) instead. They handle different tasks.

Applications and functionality

The KeyMaster G3 is built around immobiliser and key work, with ECU operations as its second pillar. Below, the work is grouped as it comes to your workshop.

Key functions — immobiliser, 5 vehicle types

This device's primary function, and the part available without additional licence. Which approach is possible for each vehicle depends on make, model and year.

  • Programming keys: Teaching immobiliser keys on cars (102 brands), trucks (DAF, Jiefang and Kinland), electric vehicles (23 brands), motorcycles (19 brands) and marine vessels (BRP, Kawasaki and Yamaha).
  • Making keys: Creating a new key that starts the vehicle, even when no original is available, at the level a brand dealer operates. For 17 brands.
  • Refreshing keys: Resetting a used key so it can be deployed again, for 15 brands.
  • Unlocking smart keys: Making a locked smart key usable again, for Subaru and Toyota.
  • Reading and writing transponders: Accessing transponder data via the built-in RFID function, without a separate adapter.
  • Testing remote controls: Checking signal, function and frequency of remotes and smart keys with the built-in Remote Test before programming.
  • IMMO OFF: Disabling engine immobiliser on models where the vehicle system allows it.

Specialist functions — control module work

Work that goes beyond keys alone. Some of this happens on the bench with the included MP001 and bench wiring.

  • Reading and writing EEPROM and MCU: Extracting, saving and restoring control module memory with the included MP001 programmer, the read and write boards C4-01 and C4-02 and the cables W004 and W005.
  • ECU Advanced: Advanced operations on control modules from 12 brands that have been enabled for this.
  • Bench work: Accessing modules outside the vehicle via BENCH-A V3, BENCH-B V2 and the P004 adapter with switchable 120 ohm termination resistor.

Functions requiring a separate licence

Four feature modules are not included in the base package. OBDSTAR supplies them as paid activation on your device's serial number — you pay only for what you use. All four are available separately from us; they're listed below under optional add-ons.

  • ODO Meter — module B: Adjusting odometer reading on cars and motorcycles, plus oil and service resets.
  • ECU Flasher — module C: Reading, writing and cloning engine management, transmission, body control modules and motorcycle ECM. This is the module the two large ECU Flasher lists below belong to.
  • Crash Reset — module D: Airbag reset, battery management module (MVBM) reset and steering angle sensor relearning.
  • Test Platform — module E: Start instrument clusters, ABS units, gear shift modules, air-conditioning panels and BSG, MHEV, audio and EBA controllers for electric vehicles on the workbench, without CAN communication.

If you only need odometer work, the ODO Meter module alone is sufficient; for collision damage repairs, Crash Reset is the logical addition.

Additional features

Limited by the device's technical capabilities. This determines whether it can communicate with recent vehicles; the manufacturer list below tells you nothing about this. The G3 integrates everything within the device itself, without separate external boxes.

  • CAN-FD built-in: The faster CAN protocol for recent vehicles, no separate adapter required.
  • DoIP built-in: Diagnostics over Ethernet, essential for an expanding range of modern models.
  • Low speed (fault tolerant) CAN: The slower, fault-tolerant bus used in comfort systems.
  • OBD16 pinout switch: Reconfigure the OBD connector pinout without an adapter cable.

The combination of manufacturer, model and year matters, not the manufacturer alone. Licence information

This device includes 2 years of Software updates. This update licence is separate from the four module licences above; the schedule below shows exactly what happens when.

Step 1
Upon purchase
Register the device online and update it completely via OTA before you start. Only after that first update will you have access to all manufacturers and the latest key protocols.
Step 2
The first 2 years
You download every new version as soon as it is released: new vehicle makes, expanded key and immobiliser functions, additional ECU protocols and fixes. Unlimited, via WiFi on the device itself.
Step 3
After that, if you don't renew
Your device will continue to work with the last installed version. Key programming and immobiliser functions for the vehicles stored on it remain available. However, you won't receive any new updates, so vehicles from after your final update may fall outside coverage.
Step 4
Renew whenever you choose
The licence is renewed on the device's own serial number.
