The OBDSTAR BENZ FBS3 Kit is a adapter kit for Mercedes-Benzwith theFBS3 Starter Interrupt SystemHe opens up work on keys and control modules that are not accessible via the OBD port. With this kit, you can read thepincode out, you reset a module back to pristine condition, you programme modules and learn keys on.
FBS3 is the generation of start interrupt technology that Mercedes-Benz has employed for many years. The system affects multiple modules simultaneously: theEIS (the electronic contact lock), the ELV (the steering lock), the ECM and TCM and the ISM. The kit supports both key programming as all keys lost, and the resetting and personalisation of the aforementioned modules.

Applications and functionality
The kit establishes the connection between your OBDSTAR device and Mercedes-Benz FBS3 modules. The device executes the procedure; the cables provide the interface.
What you can do with it
- Read PIN code: Extract the PIN code from the FBS3 system as the basis for further key work.
- Add spare keys: Programme an additional key to a vehicle where a working key already exists.
- All keys lost: Create a new key when no working keys remain.
- Reset modules to factory condition: Reset ECM, TCM, ISM, EIS and ELV so they can be reprogrammed.
- Programme and customise: Reconfigure a reset module to the vehicle.
Modules you can access
- EIS: The electronic ignition switch of the FBS3 system.
- ELV: The electronic steering lock.
- ECM and TCM: The engine and transmission control modules.
- ISM: The intelligent servo module.
What else you need
The kit does not work independently. Below is what else you require.
- OBDSTAR KeyMaster G3: The device that performs the procedure. OBDSTAR designates the KeyMaster G3 as the host for this kit.
- OBDSTAR MP001 programmer: The underlying programmer with which the kit operates; this is available separately.
- The exact chassis number: Determine the vehicle's W-code in advance to ensure you are working with FBS3 and not another generation.
This kit covers FBS3 onlyFBS3. If you encounter a vehicle with a different generation immobiliser system, you will need different equipment.
