The Topdon Phoenix Max is an advanced and powerful OE-level diagnostic platform, developed as an all-in-one solution for the professional and demanding workshop. The system is built around a robust 13.3-inch Full HD touchscreen tablet, powered by an octa-core processor, 8 GB RAM, and 256 GB storage capacity, resulting in exceptional speed and smooth operation. The Phoenix Max combines in-depth vehicle diagnostics, cloud-based online programming, and bidirectional functionality with a modular design that can be easily expanded with, among others, ADAS calibration, Battery testing, oscilloscope, and key programming. The device comes standard with a docking station for easy charging and secure workshop integration.

Communication with the vehicle is wireless via the advanced Phoenix MDCI Pro VCI, which provides full support for modern protocols such as CAN-FD, DoIP, J2534, D-PDU, and RP1210. This makes the system compatible with the latest vehicle architectures, including 24V systems for trucks and commercial vehicles (with optional HD module). The Phoenix Max comes standard with two years of free software updates for passenger cars. After this period, the device continues to operate with the last installed software, but an annual license is required for new updates, cloud functionalities, and access to brand servers.

The Phoenix Max offers comprehensive OE-level diagnostic capabilities and is suitable for professional use in universal workshops. Thanks to its powerful software, the system supports fault analysis, live data monitoring, and system tests on more than 200 vehicle brands worldwide.

• Complete system diagnosis (OE-Level): Provides in-depth access to all electronic control units, such as engine, transmission, ABS, airbag (SRS), steering, BCM, infotainment, and more. Supports reading and clearing fault codes with full technical descriptions.
• Topology mapping: Visualizes the complete network of vehicle modules in an interactive map view. Shows the communication status of each ECU at a glance (active, fault, offline) for quick network diagnosis.
• Active tests (bidirectional control): Sends direct commands to actuators and components such as the fuel pump, air conditioning compressor, EGR valve, or door locks without disassembly.
• Live datastream: Displays real-time sensor data in text view, graph form, or as an analog meter. Supports recording, comparing, and analyzing multiple datastreams simultaneously.
• AutoVIN: Automatically recognizes the vehicle based on the VIN (chassis number) and selects the correct make, model, and year for a fast and accurate diagnosis.

Maintenance and service functions:

The Topdon Phoenix Max supports more than 40 maintenance and reset functions that allow vehicle systems to be calibrated, configured, or reactivated after maintenance or parts replacement. These functions are indispensable in universal and brand-specific workshops.

• Oil service reset (Service): Resets the maintenance interval and turns off the service light after oil change.
• Electronic parking brake (EPB): Releases and initializes the electric handbrake for safe brake maintenance.
• Battery management system (BMS): Registers a new Battery and restores charging settings.
• Steering angle sensor (SAS): Calibrates the steering angle sensor after steering repair or alignment.
• Diesel particulate filter (DPF): Performs a forced regeneration and clears related fault codes.
• ABS pump bleeding (ABS): Activates the ABS system to remove air from the brake lines.
• Tire pressure monitoring system reset (TPMS): Learns new TPMS sensors and resets the warning system.
• Throttle body initialization (ETC): Calibrates the throttle after cleaning or replacement.
• Injector coding: Programs the unique codes of new injectors into the ECU.

• Cloud-based online programming: Supports full ECU reprogramming (flashing) via the cloud with original factory files. Essential when replacing complex modules or performing software updates. Supports more than 13 vehicle brands, including Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche, Jaguar, Land Rover and Nissan.
• Online coding: Communicates with brand servers to adjust the software configuration of modules. This allows new parts to be correctly learned, hidden functions to be activated, or vehicle settings to be adjusted (e.g., start/stop system, lighting functions).
• Guided functions (VAG): For brands within the Volkswagen group (VW, Audi, Seat, Skoda), the system offers step-by-step instructions for complex procedures such as key programming, basic settings, component coding and module replacement. This prevents errors and speeds up the workflow.

The Phoenix series from Topdon supports powerful cloud functionality and reporting options, allowing users to easily save, share and manage diagnostic information – anytime, anywhere.

• Cloud storage & management: All pre-scan and post-scan reports are automatically saved in the Topdon Cloud, enabling secure backup, central archiving and access from multiple devices.
• Professional reports: Generates clear and structured diagnostic reports with fault codes, system status and vehicle info. Reports can be fully customized with the workshop logo and contact details.
• Easy sharing: Reports can be shared directly from the tablet via e-mail, without extra software or PC intervention.

After the first year, the license can be renewed for an annual fee. The device remains fully functional for already supported models, even without license renewal. However, new software updates can no longer be installed, and some online features may be limited or no longer supported.
