The Topdon SGW Multi-Access Bundle is a combined authorization license valid for one year. This license grants diagnostic technicians verified access to the secure electronic systems of vehicles equipped with a Security Gateway (SGW). The bundle covers multiple manufacturers, including FCA (Fiat, Chrysler, Alfa Romeo), Renault, the VAG group, and Nissan, enabling extensive diagnostic operations on these secure networks.
Technically, the license functions as a digital key that authorizes communication between the Topdon diagnostic device and the OEM servers. When the device connects to an ECU protected by SGW, an authentication request is sent via a internet connection to the Topdon server. This server then communicates with the respective manufacturer's server to obtain an access token. This token unlocks the SGW, allowing the technician to perform functions such as coding, adaptations, and clearing fault codes. After the license expires, access to the secure systems is blocked, and renewal is necessary to maintain functionality.
Applications and Features
This license bundle activates the ability to connect to and work on the secure diagnostic networks of various car manufacturers. Each authorization is specifically designed to bypass the respective Security Gateway.
- FCA SGW access: Provides the ability to bypass the Security Gateway of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (including Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, and Ram). This is necessary for performing bidirectional tests, coding, and calibrations.
- Renault SGW access: Unlocks the Renault Security Gateway, which blocks access to most diagnostic functions after 2020 without official authorization. The license enables full diagnosis and service resets.
- VAG SFD/SGW access: Enables communication with vehicles from the Volkswagen Audi Group (VW, Audi, Seat, Škoda) equipped with SFD (Schutz der Fahrzeugdiagnose) or an SGW. This is required to perform adaptations and coding in secured modules.
- Nissan SGW access: Provides access to gateway-protected systems of recent Nissan models, allowing diagnostic tasks beyond reading fault codes.

How Does It Work in Practice?
Activating the SGW license is a digital process linked to the serial number of your diagnostic device.
- Place order: Enter the 12-digit serial number of your Topdon device during the ordering process. This number is essential for linking the license.
- Digital activation: After ordering, the license is activated remotely. The processing time averages 7 business days. You will receive confirmation once activation is complete.
- Software update: Make sure your Topdon device’s software is fully updated. The new authorization is loaded onto the device via a software update.
- Use in the workshop: Connect the device to a vehicle equipped with an SGW. The device automatically detects the security and uses the active license to gain access.
Serial Number Information
The 12-digit serial number of your Topdon device is required to activate the license correctly. Make sure to enter this number accurately when ordering. You can find the serial number in the following locations:
- Housing: Usually found on a sticker on the back of the VCI (interface) or the diagnostic tablet.
- Software menu: In the settings or information menu of the diagnostic software, often under 'About' or 'Info'.
- Packaging: The serial number is also listed on the original product box.
