The OBDSTAR M041 is the adapter cable for the 6-pin diagnostic port conforming to the Euro V standard. The male connector attaches to the 6-pin motorcycle port, whilst the female connector provides a 16-pin OBD2 (J1962)-outlet for your diagnostic device.

This 6-pin connection is not brand-specific but standard-based: motorcycles homologated under the Euro V standard use it instead of the larger automotive OBD2 connector. The cable adapts the pin assignment and housing form to the OBD2 format and carries both the K-line and CAN-bus-lines through. The red connector housing is visually distinctive, helping prevent mix-ups in the workshop. Via this connection, the connected device communicates with the motorcycle engine control unit (ECU). Which makes and models are actually readable is not determined by the cable but by the coverage of your own OBDSTAR device.

KEY BENEFITS

Not tied to a single brand — The connection conforms to the Euro V standard, allowing the same cable to fit different motorcycle makes.
Carries K-line and CAN-bus — Communication with the ECU can occur via either line, depending on the motorcycle.
Red connector stands out — The distinctive colour prevents confusion with other connectors during workshop use.
Ready to use — Connectors are pre-fitted at both ends; no vehicle wiring modification is required.

IMPORTANT NOTES

Euro V 6-pin port layout only — Motorcycles with a different port layout or alternative pin configuration are not compatible.
No model list by make — For each make, only the specification for 6-pin Euro V port models is recorded; you must verify the exact models and production years in your device's vehicle database.
OBDSTAR equipment only — This cable is not compatible with diagnostic equipment from other manufacturers.
Does not add vehicle coverage — The software of your own device determines which makes and functions are actually available.

Applications and functionality

Via this connection you can access the engine control unit of a motorcycle with a Euro V diagnostic port.

Control units you can reach

  • Engine control unit (ECU): The control unit with which the device communicates via the 6-pin port.
  • Other systems: Whether additional modules can be accessed alongside the ECU depends on the motorcycle and your device.

What you can do

  • Read fault codes: Retrieve stored error codes from the ECU via the OBD2 interface of the OBDSTAR device.
  • Clear fault codes: Erase error codes after diagnosis, provided the ECU permits this via the active connection.
  • Read live data: View real-time values such as engine speed, temperature and fuel pressure.
  • Programming and coding: Depending on the connected OBDSTAR device, programming and coding functions for the control unit may be available.
  • Please note: Which functions you can use depends on the make, model and coverage of your own device.

Compatible vehicles and applications

The Euro V 6-pin diagnostic port is the determining factor, not the make. OBDSTAR documents these makes as compatible, each for models equipped with the 6-pin Euro V port. A model-specific list with production years is not included; consult your device's vehicle list.

💡
Good to know: The 6-pin Euro V diagnostic port is typically located beneath the seat, behind a cover panel or near the steering column; exact positioning varies by model and manufacturer. Before ordering, verify that your motorcycle has the 6-pin Euro V port and that your diagnostic device supports the relevant manufacturer.
