The Toyota 22-pin to 16-pin OBD2 adapter cable is a specific diagnostic adapter designed to bridge older Toyota passenger cars and modern OBD2 diagnostic equipment. Many Toyota models from before the general introduction of the OBD2 standard (around 1996) are equipped with a unique, rectangular 22-pin diagnostic port. This port is usually located in the engine compartment and is not compatible with the 16-pin connectors of modern OBD2 scanners.
