The OBDSTAR M004 is an adapter cable that converts a universal 3-pin OBD connection to a 16-pin OBD2 (J1962) connection, specifically designed for use with OBDSTAR diagnostic devices or programmers. The cable is suitable for diagnosing and programming mopeds and motorcycles from brands such as Aprilia, Ducati, Honda, KTM, Piaggio, Vespa, and Yamaha. The 3-pin connector on the vehicle side connects to the diagnostic port commonly used by many two-wheelers in their engine management system.

The M004 adapter cable translates the vehicle's 3-pin diagnostic pinout to the standard 16-pin OBD2 format recognized by OBDSTAR diagnostic equipment. Through this connection, the reader can communicate with the vehicle's electronic control unit (ECU) over the available diagnostic bus, such as K-line. This allows for reading fault codes, retrieving system data, and performing programming tasks supported by the connected OBDSTAR device.

ADVANTAGES

Enables connection between 3-pin motorcycle/moped diagnostic ports and standard OBD2 equipment from OBDSTAR.
Compatible with multiple European and Japanese two-wheeler brands, including Aprilia, Ducati, Honda, KTM, Piaggio, Vespa, and Yamaha.
Supports both reading fault codes and programming tasks via the connected OBDSTAR device.

IMPORTANT NOTES

Only suitable for use with OBDSTAR diagnostic devices or programmers; not compatible with diagnostic equipment from other brands.
Not intended for passenger cars or commercial vehicles; the cable is exclusively designed for two-wheelers with a 3-pin diagnostic connector.
The available diagnostic functions depend on the capabilities of the connected OBDSTAR device and the ECU support of the specific vehicle.

Applications and functionalities

The OBDSTAR M004 Adapter Cable supports the following diagnostic applications via compatible OBDSTAR equipment:

  • Read fault codes: Fault codes are retrieved from the vehicle’s ECU via the 3-pin connection and transmitted to the connected OBDSTAR device using the OBD2 protocol.
  • Clear fault codes: After diagnosis, stored error codes in the two-wheeler’s control unit can be cleared via the OBDSTAR device.
  • Request live data: Real-time sensor data from engine management systems is read and displayed on the connected diagnostic device.
  • ECU programming: Depending on the OBDSTAR model and vehicle support, programming tasks can be performed via the 3-pin connection.
