The OBDSTAR M072 is the universal adapter cable for the 10-pin diagnostic connector on marine inboard engines. It connects that socket to the 16-pin OBD2 (J1962)-port on your OBDSTAR device. On the engine side, the cable connects directly to the diagnostic connector of the motor.
Various inboard engine manufacturers use the same 10-pin diagnostic connector, which does not fit standard OBD2 equipment. The cable translates the pin assignment to the corresponding pins of the OBD2 port and routes the relevant lines — power, ground and diagnostic data lines — correctly through. The cable unlocks the engine management electronics of the inboard motor, nothing more. Whether you can read and clear fault codes and which live data is visible depends on the support in your own OBDSTAR device for the specific engine type.
KEY BENEFITS
IMPORTANT NOTES
Applications and functionality
Via the 10-pin connector, you access the engine management electronics of the inboard motor.
Control units you can reach
- Engine management system: The control unit of the inboard engine connected to the 10-pin diagnostic connector.
- Other modules: Which additional units are accessible varies by manufacturer and installation.
What you can do
- Read fault codes: Retrieve stored and active diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) from the engine management system.
- Clear fault codes: Remove the retrieved codes after inspection or repair.
- Request live data: Display real-time parameters such as engine speed, temperatures and sensor readings.
- Convert connection: The 10-pin marine connector is adapted to the OBD2 format used by your device.
- Note: Available functions depend on the OBDSTAR device used and the specific engine type.
Compatible vehicles and applications
The 10-pin diagnostic connector is the determining factor, not the manufacturer or model. The manufacturers listed below use this connector on their marine inboard engines. OBDSTAR does not specify particular models with production years.
- Crusader Engines: Marine inboard engines (various models)
- Marine Power: Marine inboard engines (various models)
- Mercury Racing: Marine inboard engines (various models)
- MerCruiser: Marine inboard engines (various models)
- PCM (Pleasurecraft Engine Group): Marine inboard engines (various models)
- Volvo Penta: Marine inboard engines (various models)
