The OBDSTAR M037 converts the Ducati 4-pin diagnostic connector to a standard 16-pin OBD2 (J1962) interface. The 4-pin side connects to the motorcycle's factory connector, whilst the OBD2 side plugs directly into your OBDSTAR diagnostic device.

Ducati fitted a proprietary 4-pin connector on a wide range of models instead of the universal OBD2 port. The cable translates that pin configuration to the corresponding OBD2 pins, allowing the device to communicate with the engine control unit (ECU) via the vehicle's native communication protocol. The specific protocol varies by model; the cable itself performs no active signal processing. What you gain is diagnostic access to the ECU. Further operations such as programming or coding depend on your device's software and licence, not the cable.

KEY BENEFITS

Broad model coverage within the brand — from the Monster and Multistrada ranges through to Superbike models 748 to 1198.
Direct connection to factory connector — the 4-pin connector fits the motorcycle without modification.
Passive pin coupling — no active electronics, so no additional power supply or configuration required.
Standard J1962 on the device side — the cable connects directly to the diagnostic device's OBD2 port without an intermediate adapter.

IMPORTANT NOTES

Primarily older models — the specified production years range from 1993 to 2011; newer Ducati motorcycles typically use a different connector.
Ducati 4-pin connector only — other brands or connection types are not supported.
OBDSTAR equipment only — use with diagnostic tools from other manufacturers is not supported.
Does not add vehicle coverage — available functions are determined by your device's software licence.

Applications and functionality

Via the 4-pin connection, you can access the Ducati engine control unit.

Control units you can reach

  • Engine control unit (ECU): The engine management control module, connected to the 4-pin diagnostic connector.
  • Other units: Availability of additional units varies by model and device.

What you can do

  • Read fault codes (DTCs): Retrieve stored and active fault codes from the engine management system.
  • Clear fault codes: Remove codes from the ECU memory after diagnosis or repair.
  • Stream live data: Monitor sensor readings and operating parameters in real time via the diagnostic connection.
  • ECU programming and coding: Adjust ECU parameters or programme control units, depending on your OBDSTAR device's software licence.
  • Note: Which of these functions are available depends on the model and licence of your OBDSTAR device.

Compatible vehicles and applications

The 4-pin diagnostic connector is the determining factor, not the model itself. The Ducati models listed below are equipped with this connector; only confirmed models are shown.
