The OBDSTAR M037 is an adapter cable that converts a Ducati 4-pin OBD connection to a standard 16-pin OBD2 (J1962) connection. The cable is designed for use with Ducati motorcycles equipped with a factory-specific 4-pin diagnostic connector instead of the universal OBD2 port. The cable is exclusively compatible with OBDSTAR diagnostic devices or programmers.
The adapter cable translates the pin assignment of the Ducati 4-pin connector to the corresponding pins of the 16-pin OBD2 port, enabling the OBDSTAR diagnostic device to communicate with the engine control unit (ECU) via the vehicle's proprietary communication protocol. This allows diagnostic procedures normally only possible through the factory-specific connection. The cable performs no active signal processing — the signal transmission is passive via the fixed pin coupling between both connectors.

Applications and functionalities
The OBDSTAR M037 Adapter Cable enables the following diagnostic applications via the Ducati 4-pins OBD connector in combination with a compatible OBDSTAR device:
- Reading fault codes (DTCs): The diagnostic device reads stored and active fault codes from the Ducati engine management system via the ECU connection.
- Clearing fault codes: After diagnosis or repair, stored fault codes can be deleted from the ECU memory via the cable connection.
- Live data streaming: Sensor values and driving parameters are read in real time via the diagnostic connection to the engine control unit.
- ECU programming and coding: Depending on the software license of the OBDSTAR device, ECU parameters can be adjusted or units programmed.
