The OBDSTAR M026 is a SYM 3-pin OBD to 16-pin OBD2 adapter cable that converts the brand-specific 3-pin diagnostic plug of SYM mopeds to a standard 16-pin OBD2 (J1962) connection. The cable is specifically developed for use with OBDSTAR readers or programmers and enables diagnostics on SYM mopeds that do not have a built-in OBD2 port. The 3-pin connector on the vehicle side connects to the vehicle's own diagnostic plug, while the 16-pin female connector on the other side connects to the diagnostic device.

The adapter cable converts the 3-pin signal pattern of the SYM diagnostic plug to the corresponding pin positions of the OBD2 connector, allowing the reading device to correctly interpret the diagnostic data from the vehicle system. Through this connection, fault codes can be read and cleared, and relevant live data values can be requested from the control unit of the moped.
