The OBDSTAR M038 is an adapter cable that converts a 4-pin MV Agusta diagnostic plug to a standard 16-pin OBD2 connector (J1962). The cable is designed for use with OBDSTAR diagnostic devices and programmers and enables motorcycles of the MV Agusta brand to connect to OBDSTAR diagnostic hardware. The compact design consists of two separate connector parts that together establish the connection.
The adapter cable converts the 4-pin vehicle-specific diagnostic port of MV Agusta to the universal OBD2 format recognized by OBDSTAR equipment. Through this connection, diagnostic protocols such as K-line can be transmitted to the reader device, allowing the device to access the control units of the motorcycle. The cable functions solely as a passive signal bridge without active electronics; all data processing takes place in the connected OBDSTAR device.

Applications and functionalities
The Adapter Cable supports the following diagnostic applications when used in combination with compatible OBDSTAR equipment on MV Agusta Motorcycles.
- Read fault codes: Through the K-line connection, stored fault codes from the motorcycle’s control units can be read and displayed on the OBDSTAR device.
- Clear fault codes: After diagnosis, existing fault codes can be cleared via the connected reading device, provided the software license supports this.
- Request live data: While the engine is running, real-time sensor values and system parameters can be requested for diagnostic purposes.
- Control unit communication: The cable establishes a signal connection between the vehicle-specific 4-pins port and the OBD2 interface of OBDSTAR, allowing the device to address the available control units.
