\nThe OBDSTAR M060 is the adapter cable for the 10-pin diagnostic connector for Mercury marine engines. On the vehicle side, there is the manufacturer-specific 10-pin connector, whilst the device side features a standard16-pin OBD2 (J1962)-connector for your OBDSTAR device.\n

Mercury used onboard a proprietary diagnostic connector of which the pin configuration deviates from the OBD2 standard; an OBD2 cable will not connect directly to it. The M060 provides the correct pin assignment, so that communication via the CAN-bus or K-line protocol can be established with the Mercury Engine Control Unit. The cable unlocks the engine management system of the outboard or inboard motor. Which diagnostic functions are available depends on the connected OBDSTAR device and the supported software version.\n

KEY FEATURES

Unlock the non-standard Mercury port— Engines with the 10-pin connector become accessible to a device with an OBD2 port.
Correct pin assignment— The connection between the Mercury connector and the J1962 port follows the correct pin sequence.
Outboard and inboard— The same cable is compatible with both Mercury outboard and inboard engines.
Supports both communication lines— The connection can run via either CAN-bus or K-line.

IMPORTANT NOTES

No model list with production years— Compatibility is confirmed only for Mercury engines with the 10-pin connector; consult the compatibility list for model years and power ratings.
Not for road vehicles — This cable is designed for Mercury marine applications and is not compatible with engines from other manufacturers.
For OBDSTAR equipment only — Other diagnostic brands will not connect to this cable.
Does not add vehicle coverage — Available functions are determined by your device and its corresponding software version.

Applications and functionality

This connection allows you to access the engine control unit of Mercury marine engines.

Control units you can reach

  • Mercury Engine Control Unit (ECU): The engine management unit of the outboard or inboard motor.
  • Other systems: Whether additional modules are accessible alongside engine control depends on the engine type and your device.

What you can do

  • Read fault codes: Retrieve stored DTCs from the Mercury ECU to diagnose engine problems.
  • Clear fault codes: Erase the fault memory once the issue has been resolved.
  • Monitor live data: View real-time engine parameters such as engine speed, coolant temperature and fuel pressure.
  • Establish diagnostic connection: Set up communication via CAN-bus or K-line between your device and the Mercury engine management ECU.
  • Important: The range of functions varies depending on engine type and OBDSTAR device.

Compatible vehicles and applications

The 10-pin diagnostic connector is the determining factor, not the engine type. Only Mercury engines equipped with that connector are supported. A breakdown by model year or power class is not provided.

Mercury:

  • Outboard engines with 10-pin OBD connection: (consult OBDSTAR compatibility list for specific model years and power classes)
  • Inboard engines (MerCruiser) with 10-pin OBD connection: (consult OBDSTAR compatibility list for specific model years and engine types)
💡
Good to know: The 10-pin Mercury diagnostic connector is typically located on the wiring harness of the outboard engine or in the engine compartment of inboard engines; the exact location varies by engine type and model year. Before ordering, verify that your engine has the 10-pin connector and that your device includes marine coverage for Mercury.
