The OBDSTAR M005 is an adapter cable that converts a Kawasaki 4-pin or 6-pin OBD diagnostic connector to a 16-pin OBD2 connection (J1962). The cable is intended for use on Kawasaki motorcycles equipped with a factory-specific diagnostic port and is exclusively compatible with OBDSTAR readers or programmers. The cable features two separate connectors on the vehicle side — one 4-pin and one 6-pin — so that both port types used by Kawasaki are supported.

The adapter cable physically connects the motorcycle-specific diagnostic connector to the OBD2 input of the OBDSTAR device, with pin assignment matched to the K-line and power lines used by Kawasaki in its diagnostic system. Through this connection, fault codes are read, sensor values interpreted, and depending on the connected OBDSTAR device, programming or reset functions are also performed.
