The Autel Chrysler 16-pin adapter is a conversion adapter specifically designed to connect older Chrysler vehicles to an Autel diagnostic system. This adapter acts as an interface between the vehicle-specific diagnostic port and the 16-pin VCI connection of the diagnostic equipment, where the physical connector may visually resemble OBD2 but internally uses different wiring.

Internally, the adapter converts signal lines to ensure compatibility with older communication protocols such as the CCD-bus (Chrysler Collision Detection) and SCI (Serial Communications Interface). By correctly switching the pin assignment, the diagnostic tester gains access to modules and control units that would not be reachable via a standard universal OBD2 connector.
