The Launch LTR-05 is a programmable TPMS sensor for direct tire pressure monitoring systems. This universal sensor continuously measures the current tire pressure and the internal temperature of the tire during driving. The device is designed with a dual-frequency architecture, meaning it operates on both the 315 MHz and 433 MHz frequency. This allows the sensor to offer broad application coverage and be used as a replacement part for defective original (OEM) sensors in a wide range of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles.
The measured data is periodically transmitted wirelessly via an RF signal to the control unit (ECU) of the vehicle system. Before the unit can communicate with the vehicle, it must be paired with a unique sensor ID. This ID can be digitally cloned from the old sensor or newly generated. This programming process takes place exclusively via specific hardware from the same manufacturer. After physically mounting the aluminum valve in the rim and completing the learning process (OBD, automatic or static), the internal processor monitors pressure fluctuations to timely control the dashboard in case of deviations.

This direct-fit tire pressure sensor collects current rim data and provides essential measurements to the onboard computer to support safety systems.
- Tire pressure measurement: Records the internal air pressure of the tire within a range of 0 to 800 kPa and transmits it wirelessly to the receiver to activate a warning light in case of pressure loss.
- Temperature recording: Measures the internal air temperature inside the tire with an accuracy of ±5 °C to signal thermal overload before it results in road damage or a blowout.
- Vehicle communication: Generates a continuous RF signal at 315 MHz or 433 MHz that corresponds with the data protocol implemented by the car manufacturer for interference-free diagnostics.
Special features and capabilities
The sensor is built around a flexible memory architecture, enabling specific technical operations in the workshop.
- ID Cloning: Enables the technician to digitally copy the hexadecimal serial number of the defective original sensor to the LTR-05. This avoids the need to put the vehicle back into OBD learning mode and allows the new sensor to be recognized immediately.
- Over the air programming: Allows wireless flashing of the protocol software to the sensor via a Launch TPMS tool. This can be done without physically connecting the sensor and even works through the tire rubber when already mounted.
