The Autel MX-Sensor is a TPMS sensor that operates within a direct TPMS system. This component measures real-time tyre pressure and temperature within the wheel. The hardware is configured to transmit signals on both 433 MHz and 315 MHz frequencies. This makes the single component suitable for a broad range of vehicles from the European, American and Asian markets, as a replacement for original sensors.
Measurements are performed by an internal sensor chip, and the data is then transmitted via an RF signal to the vehicle's control unit. For correct synchronisation, the sensor communicates with the system via a unique sensor ID. As this is a blank sensor, it must be programmed with the correct vehicle protocol before installation via a programming procedure. During operation, a built-in accelerometer detects wheel rotation, triggering the sensor to wake and periodically transmit data packets to keep tyre status current in the vehicle's on-board computer.

- Pressure and temperature recording: The built-in chip continuously measures tyre pressure (up to 800 kPa) and air temperature (from −40°C to +125°C) for transmission to the control unit.
- Vehicle communication: Generates an RF signal on the required frequency band for the specific vehicle (315 MHz or 433 MHz) once the correct protocol is loaded.
- ID cloning: Allows the hexadecimal code (sensor ID) from an existing, removed sensor to be copied and stored, bypassing the need for an OBD learning procedure on the vehicle.

- Modular valve system: The sensor housing connector features a mechanical click system. This allows the rubber valve to be manually removed and replaced with an aluminium variant if desired, without requiring special tools.
- Batch programming: The antenna and processor can simultaneously receive signals from a diagnostic tool, allowing up to sixteen sensors to be programmed in a single operation with the correct software.
