This adapter cable connects the 12-pin diagnostic connector of older Mitsubishi and Hyundai passenger cars to a scan tool with a 16-pin OBD2 connector. On Mitsubishi vehicles, the connector is located in the footwell on the driver's side, next to the fuse box.

Behind this single connector are several systems, such as engine management, ABS, airbag and automatic transmission. With the cable, you read them using your existing device. You read the fault codes per system and clear them after the repair. The cable only converts the connector physically. The scan tool itself must support the OBD1 diagnostics of Mitsubishi or Hyundai.

Mitsubishi:

  • 3000GT: 1991 to 1993.
  • Lancer Evolution I to III (CD9A/CE9A): 1992 to 1995.

Good to know: On the 3000GT, the connector is on the left in the footwell, next to the fuse box. Sometimes it has come loose from the fuse box; in that case, search in the immediate vicinity.
