The Nissan 14-pin OBD1 to 16-pin OBD2 adapter cable is developed to connect older Nissan vehicles to modern diagnostic equipment. This adapter cable links the vehicle-specific 14-pin diagnostic port, also known as the Consult connector, with the standardized 16-pin OBD2 connector of the scan tool.

This adapter cable facilitates the physical connection and ensures direct signal transmission between the vehicle’s electronic control units and the diagnostic tool. The cable adapts the pin assignment without electronically converting communication protocols, meaning the diagnostic scanner software must be capable of reading and interpreting Nissan’s older OBD1 protocols.

ADVANTAGES

Suitable for Nissan vehicles with the older gray 14-pin Consult port.
Robust connector housing ensures a stable connection during diagnostics.
Allows use of universal 16-pin OBD2 connectors on older models.

KEY POINTS

This cable is not a protocol converter; the scanner must support OBD1.
Not suitable for Nissan models already equipped with a 16-pin OBD2 port.

Applications and functionalities

The adapter cable serves as a bridge between generations of diagnostic technology and offers specific functionalities for the workshop.

  • Pin-out conversion: Converts the specific 14-pin layout to the standard 16-pin configuration.
  • Diagnostic access: Enables reading of fault codes and live data on pre-OBD2 vehicles.
  • Compatibility: Suitable for use with aftermarket diagnostic equipment and interfaces that support Nissan Consult.

Compatible vehicles and applications

This adapter cable is specifically designed for Nissan passenger cars built approximately between 1989 and 2000 that feature the gray 14-pin rectangular diagnostic port.
