The Jaltest JDC614A is the diagnostic cable for Mercury marine engines; it connects the 2-pin A9 connector to the 16-pin OBD2 port on your Jaltest diagnostic tool. This connector is located in the engine compartment, on or next to the engine. Mercury uses different diagnostic connectors depending on the generation and system—in addition to this 2-pin A9, there's a 4-pin, a 10-pin MEFI, and a SmartCraft G3 connector. If you're working with the Jaltest Link V9, you'll also need the extension cable JDC100B.
Through this connection, your diagnostic equipment accesses the control units that Mercury runs on this connector. On the outboard side, these are the engine control modules PCM-555 and PCM-555 G3, ECM-555, ECM-555 G3, and ECM-70 G3 for Fourstroke engines, and the ECM DFI for Optimax engines; on the inboard side, the MEFI 1-2 and MEFI 3-4 for MerCruiser engines. You'll also gain access to the control electronics DTS G3 and TVM G3. The difference in coverage lies in the functions: the PCM and ECM-555 control units include parameters, calibration, and reset options, while the MEFI and ECM DFI do not. This cable falls under Jaltest Marine.

Through this connection, you can access the control modules of your Mercury engine and throttle/shift electronics using Jaltest software.
Control modules you can access
- PCM-555 and PCM-555 G3 — engine control: The engine electronic control system, with fault codes, live data, sensor readings, component activation, ECU information, parameters, calibration, reset, and real-time monitoring.
- ECM-555, ECM-555 G3, and ECM-70 G3 — engine control: Control modules for Fourstroke engines, with the same feature set.
- ECM DFI — engine control: Direct fuel injection control for Optimax engines, with fault codes, sensor readings, component activation, ECU data, and live monitoring.
- MEFI 1-2 and MEFI 3-4 — engine control: Fuel injection systems for MerCruiser inboard engines.
- DTS G3 and TVM G3 — throttle/shift electronics: Digital throttle and shift control, plus steering control.

- View sensor data and monitor live: Track real-time sensor readings while the engine is running.
- Component Control: Direct control of engine management actuators.
- Parameters, Calibration & Reset: Available on PCM and ECM-555 control units; these functions are not supported on MEFI and ECM DFI systems.

The connector type determines compatibility, not the engine model.This cable is designed for the 2-pin A9 connector. Jaltest Marine covers Mercury outboard and inboard engines; check your engine's connector type in person to confirm compatibility.
