\nThe OBDSTAR M047is the adapter cable for the5+5-pin diagnostic connectors for Vespa and Moto Guzzi. On the vehicle side there are two separate connectors, one 5-pin Vespa connector and a 5-pin Moto Guzzi connector, which converge via a junction onto a single16-pin OBD2 (J1962)-connector.\n

\nBoth manufacturers use their own pinout configuration that differs from the J1962-layout that OBDSTAR equipment expected. The cable bridges that pin mapping passive in the wiring and provides, among other things, the K-line for serial communication. Thanks to the split design, you select the correct connector for the vehicle in front of you without needing to swap cables. The cable establishes the connection with the engine control unitsbehind that gateway, including the immobiliser system when your device supports it. The cable does not add anycoverage connector; your own device determines what is possible.\n

KEY FEATURES

Two brands on one cable— Both the Vespa and Moto Guzzi connectors are fitted to the cable, so a second cable is not required.
Passive pin mapping— No additional electronics are introduced into the signal path, preserving signal integrity.
Direct connection to the OBD2 port— Connect directly to OBDSTAR equipment without requiring an intermediate adapter or additional wiring.
Wide model range— From Vespa LX and GTS scooters to the larger Moto Guzzi models listed below.

IMPORTANT NOTES

Only the 5+5-pin connector type — Vehicles with a non-standard connector type fall outside the scope of this cable.
Moto Guzzi has more than one configuration — Some Moto Guzzi models are equipped with an 8+8-pin diagnostic connector; a different cable is required for those.
OBDSTAR equipment only — The cable is not compatible with diagnostic systems from other manufacturers.
Does not add vehicle coverage — Which functions, including immobiliser features, are available depends on your own device.

Applications and functionality

Via this connection you can access the control units behind the 5-pin diagnostic connector of the scooter or motorcycle.

Control units you can reach

  • Engine control unit (ECU): The unit communicated with via the K-line connection.
  • Immobiliser system: With compatible OBDSTAR programmers, the immobiliser system is accessible via this connector.

What you can do

  • Read and clear fault codes: Retrieve stored diagnostic trouble codes via the K-line and remove them after diagnosis.
  • Read live data: View sensor values and operating parameters in real time to analyse system status and riding behaviour.
  • Code keys: With compatible OBDSTAR programmers, pair keys and transponders with the immobiliser system.
  • Retrieve system information: Read vehicle and system data, such as ECU version and vehicle identification details.
  • Note: Which of these functions you can use depends on the model and the coverage of your device.

Compatible vehicles and applications

The 5-pin diagnostic connector is what matters, not the model. The vehicles listed below are equipped with that connector type. Only vehicles with this connector are supported.

💡
Useful to know: On Vespa scooters, the 5-pin diagnostic port is typically located beneath the seat or within the front panel; on Moto Guzzi motorcycles, the port is generally found near the frame or under the fairing. Before ordering, verify which connector type your vehicle has, as Moto Guzzi models feature multiple connector variants.
