The ECU Master Configuration A&C software licence activates two configurations simultaneously, namely passenger vehicles and electric vehicles and commercial vehicles, agricultural and off-road machinery. The hardware is included with every version same; what an ECU Master can do is determined by the configurations functions that are unlocked on it.

The activation is to the serial number from one device and is non-transferable. If you work with multiple ECU Masters in the workshop, each device requires a own licence needed. Anything outside this licence remains locked, so motorcycles (B) and safety systems (D) are not included here.

POINTS TO NOTE

✕Excluding motorcycles (B) and safety systems (D): Those configurations are not included and can be ordered separately.
✕PC required: The ECU Master operates from a computer with Windows 10 or newer; without a PC you cannot get started.
✕Serial number mandatory: Without your device's serial number, we cannot set up the unlock.
✕Tied to one device: The licence cannot be transferred to another device or another owner.

Configuration A — Passenger vehicles and electric vehicles

Configuration A opens the engine management, the transmission and the body of passenger vehicles, plus the battery management and the vehicle control module of electric vehicles.

  • Getting a replacement control unit to work: Transfer the contents of the old controller to the new one so the vehicle recognises it supports.
  • Accessing the automatic gearbox: A DSG unit read and write without taking the vehicle to the main dealer workshop.
  • Electrical work: Access battery management and vehicle control modules on compatible models permit.
  • Back up first: Read the existing software and store before writing anything new.

Configuration C — Commercial vehicles, agricultural and off-road machinery

Configuration C opens the engine management and the transmission of lorries, and additionally the agricultural and earthmoving machinery.

  • Access truck controllers: Work on the engine control perform without taking the vehicle to the main dealer workshop.
  • Agricultural and earthmoving included: Tractors, combines and excavators fall under the same configuration.
  • Read and write transmission data: The GS series gearbox controllers for commercial vehicles.
  • Replacing a controller: A new or reconditioned prepare the unit for the vehicle in which it will be installed.

What you'll need

The ECU Master works together with a computer. Without the components listed below, you cannot use the unlocked configuration no use.

  • An OBDSTAR ECU Master: The licence unlocks a device that you even if and is not supplied separately.
  • A computer with Windows 10 or later: The ECU Master software runs on the PC and not on the device itself.
  • An internet connection: The software logs in at startup to check which configurations are unlocked.
  • An OBDSTAR account: This holds the unlock registered that we prepare for you.
  • The serial number of your device: Found on the sticker on the underside and in the software under the device data.

Useful to know: The serial number is on the sticker on the underside of the ECU Master and in the PC software under device information. Provide it exactly as shown, so we can register the unlock immediately.

How does it work in practice?

From order to working configuration there are four steps. The serial number is the only thing you need to locate yourself.

  1. Provide serial number: Enter the serial number of your ECU Master during checkout; that is mandatory.
  2. We prepare it: We register the unlock with OBDSTAR, typically within one working day.
  3. Confirmation by email: You will hear from us once the configuration on your serial number status.
  4. Update the software: Log in to the PC software and download the unlocked configuration; after that it will be in the menu.
