The OBDSTAR IScan update licence extends your entitlement to software updates for one year. The IScan is not a single device but a range—each variant is tailored to a specific manufacturer or segment. This renewal therefore applies to your own IScan unit and maintains coverage for that particular variant.
What you receive depends on your variant. For motorcycle variants, this includes new model years, service functions, and key and immobiliser work; for marine variants, new engine series, calibrations and system tests. We link the licence to the serial number of your device. After expiry, the IScan continues to operate on the last installed version.

Applications and functionality
An active licence keeps three components of your IScan running. These are the vehicle coverage within your version, the service and special functions and the online features. Below is what an extension delivers and what stops working without one.
What an extension provides
- New models and engine series: What OBDSTAR adds within your version becomes available without needing a different device.
- Extended functions: Fault codes, live data in text, waveform or gauge display, action tests, coding and service functions follow the new models.
- Updated special procedures: Key and immobiliser work on the motorcycle versions and calibrations and system tests on the marine versions expand accordingly.
What happens without an extension
- New software: One-click updates no longer deliver anything and the device remains on its current version.
- Online features: Remote assistance and app functions require an active licence and will no longer be available.
- Existing diagnostics: Everything already in your version continues to work, including saved data recordings.

How does it work in practice?
From order to updated device, there are four steps. The serial number and your model are all you need to identify yourself.
- Provide your details: Supply the serial number and IScan model with your order in the notes field.
- Activation: We link the licence to that serial number, typically within one working day.
- Connect your device: Switch on the IScan and connect it to wifi.
- Install updates: Update the software with a single click from the device.
