The OBDSTAR P50 update licence extends your entitlement to software updates for the P50 with one year. The P50 does one thing, namely crash data clearing from the airbag control unit following repair. Its value is stored in the database with ECU part numbers, and that database expands with every update.
The P50 now covers over one hundred manufacturers and more than sixteen thousand ECU part numbers, via the OBD port or on the workbench. For damage repair, that list is everything, because you cannot clear a control unit that is not listed. We link the licence to the serial number of your device. After activation, the P50 continues to work on the latest installed version.

Applications and features
An active licence keeps three components of the P50 running. These are the crash database, the reset procedures and the documentation on the device. Below is what a renewal provides and what stops working without it.
What a renewal provides
- New ECU part numbers: Airbag control units added after your last update become available for clearing crash data.
- Updated reset procedures: Battery monitoring, steering angle sensor and the remaining supported resets follow the new control units.
- Enhanced documentation: Wiring diagrams for bench work, comprehensive fault code descriptions and partial part number search expand accordingly.
What happens without renewal
- New software: The database remains where it was and newer airbag control units remain out of reach.
- Online services: OBDSTAR online services may be unavailable or limited.
- Existing work: Clearing, EEPROM and FLASH operations and VIN writing continue to work on the units already in your version.

How does it work in practice?
From order to updated device takes four steps. The serial number is the only thing you need to locate yourself.
- Provide serial number: Provide the serial number of your P50 in the order comments field.
- Activation: We link the licence to that serial number, typically within one working day.
- Connect the device: Switch on the P50 and connect it to Wi-Fi.
- Install updates: Open the update menu and install the available versions.
