The Jaltest JDC556A is the cable that the brand-specific 4-pin diagnostic connector of the Hyundai CE 7-Series — the Robex-7 excavators and wheel loaders — convert to the standard 16-pin OBD2-connection. On the machine side, there's the 4-pin connector that plugs into the cab, and on the other end the 16-pin OBD2 socket for your Jaltest diagnostic cable. Hyundai has equipped its construction equipment with its own diagnostic connector for each model generation.

With this connection, the Jaltest equipment reads the central machine computer on the 7-series MCM (7 Series) out, where machine functions and fault memory converge, and — depending on the equipment — the ECM Cummins-engine control in both SAE J1708 and SAE J1939 versions. Diagnostic connectors have never been mandatory for construction equipment, which is why this connector remains in use as long as the machine has it. The cable falls under Jaltest OHW (Off-Highway Machines).

KEY FEATURES

✔Reaches the MCM (7 Series), the main engine control unit where Jaltest performs diagnostics on the Robex-7.
✔In addition to fault codes, also measurement values and maintenance data of the machine.
✔On machines with Cummins engines, you'll also find the ECM Cummins in the coverage, both the SAE J1708 and SAE J1939 versions.
✔Remains compatible as long as your machine has this connector: Construction equipment has never been required to have a mandatory diagnostic port.

KEY POINTS

✕Only for the 4-pin connector for the 7-series; the Hyundai CE 9-series uses a 9-pin connector and a different cable.
✕The control units present vary by machine: Not every Robex-7 has a readable engine control module in addition to the MCM.
✕The MCM (9 Series) on later Hyundai generations has the same coverage but features its own 9-pin connector.
✕Requires a Jaltest Link with valid OHW license; the cable does not add coverage on its own.

Applications and functionality

Through this connection, you access the machine's control units using Jaltest software. Which systems are available varies by model and configuration.

Control units you can access

  • MCM (7 Series), Body computer: The main machine computer of the Robex 7 generation, where machine functions and fault memory are centralized.
  • ECM Cummins SAE J1708, Engine Control Module: The Cummins engine controller with the older J1708 databus.
  • ECM Cummins SAE J1939, Engine Control Module: The Cummins engine controller with the newer J1939 CAN bus.

What you can do

  • Read and clear fault codes: Access the control unit's fault memory with detailed descriptions of detected faults.
  • View live data: Monitor real-time sensor values connected to the control unit, displayed as numbers and graphs.
  • Track maintenance: Log service intervals and completed work with a service report.
  • Perform additional functions: Execute extra procedures that Jaltest offers per control unit, where available for your system.

Compatible vehicles and applications

The connector type determines compatibility, not the model. This cable fits any Hyundai CE 7-series machine with the 4-pin diagnostic connector. Jaltest OHW covers the models listed below; verify which connector is installed in your cab on-site.

Hyundai Robex (CE 7-series):

  • R140LC-7 tracked excavator: (approx. 2002 - 2007)
  • R210LC-7 tracked excavator: (approx. 2002 - 2007)
  • R290LC-7 tracked excavator: (approx. 2002 - 2007)
  • R55-7 mini excavator: (approx. 2005 - 2008)
  • R80-7 excavator: (approx. 2006 - 2008)
  • R170W-7 mobile excavator: (approx. 2004 - 2007)
  • R200W-7 mobile excavator: (approx. 2004 - 2008)
  • HL740-7 wheel loader: (approx. 2004 - 2007)
💡
Good to know: The 4-pin connector is located in the cab. Construction equipment is not subject to OBD requirements; the distinction here is based on the model generation (7-series versus 9-series), not the year of manufacture. Please verify which connector type is installed on your machine before ordering.
