The Jaltest JDC604.9 is the adapter cable that converts the proprietary 10-pin MEFI diagnostic connector found on Mercury MerCruiser inboard engines to the standard 16-pin OBD2 port. On the engine side, you'll find the 10-pin connector that plugs into or near the motor in the engine bay, while the interface side connects to the 16-pin OBD2 inlet on your Jaltest Link.
This connection allows your diagnostic equipment to access the engine network and communicate with the MEFI engine control unit. MEFI stands for Marine Electronic Fuel Injection — the control module that MerCruiser has used on gasoline inboard engines for years, across the MEFI 1-2 and MEFI 3-4 generations. Jaltest supports both generations with the same feature set: fault codes, live data parameters, component actuation, and real-time monitoring. Parameter configuration, calibration, and reset functions are not supported on MEFI control units. This cable falls under the Jaltest Marine product line.

Control Units You Can Access
- MEFI 1-2, engine control: The engine electronic control system of the first two MEFI generations, with fault codes, live data, sensor readings, and component actuation.
- MEFI 3-4, engine control: The third and fourth generation, with the same capabilities.

- Read fault codes: Access the fault memory of the MEFI control unit, with detailed descriptions of detected faults.
- View sensor data: Monitor current readings from all sensors connected to the MEFI control unit.
- Actuate components: Directly control actuators to pinpoint whether a fault lies with the component itself.

Compatible Vehicles and Applications
The connector type determines compatibility, not the model. This cable works with any MerCruiser inboard engine equipped with the 10-pin MEFI connector. The engines listed below are covered by Jaltest Marine; check your engine in person to confirm which diagnostic connector you have.
