The 16-pin OBD2 flat extension and splitter cable is a Y-shaped 30 cm cable that splits one diagnostic port into two connection points. The cable features one male 16-pin OBD2 connector for the vehicle port and splits into two female 16-pin OBD2 connectors for your devices. The flat ribbon cable design is flexible and routes easily behind dashboard panels for a clean, discreet installation.

All sixteen pins are wired 1:1, so both ports maintain full access to the original signals and power. This lets you connect two OBD2 devices simultaneously — for example, a permanently installed tracker, insurance dongle, or head-up display alongside a diagnostic scanner — without swapping cables each time. The cable is completely passive and works plug-and-play, with no drivers or external power required.

KEY BENEFITS

Two devices on one port — keep a tracker or dongle connected and run diagnostics at the same time.
Flat, flexible ribbon design — tucks discreetly behind dashboard panels for a neat installation.
All sixteen pins wired through — compatible with any OBD2 protocol; no signal lines are lost.
Passive and plug-and-play — no drivers or power supply needed; ready to use on any EOBD/OBD2 system.

IMPORTANT NOTES

Passive splitter without isolation — both branches sit in parallel on the same bus; two active diagnostic tools transmitting simultaneously will cause communication errors.
Permanently connected dongles draw power — even when the vehicle is parked; extended parking periods can drain the battery.
No on/off switch — pin 16 (+12 V) is continuously powered; for a switchable option, choose a variant with a switch.
For standard 16-pin OBD2 only — vehicles with non-standard diagnostic connectors will need an adapter cable first.

Application and functionality

This cable provides a solution for connecting multiple devices simultaneously to your vehicle's OBD2 port.

  • Splitter function: connect two OBD2 devices at the same time to a single vehicle diagnostic port.
  • Extension function: extends the reach to your OBD2 port by 30 cm for easier access to diagnostic equipment.
  • Flat design: the flexible ribbon cable tucks neatly behind dashboard panels for a clean installation.
  • Universal compatibility: works with all standard 16-pin OBD2 diagnostic ports and compatible devices.

Typical applications

  • Tracker and diagnostics side by side: keep a GPS tracker, insurance dongle, or lease dongle permanently connected while using a diagnostic scanner at the same time.
  • Data logger and scanner: connect a data logger for continuous recording while keeping a second port available for periodic checks.
  • Head-up display in use: a HUD reads live data while the second connection remains available.
  • Better accessibility: move a hard-to-reach diagnostic port from under the dashboard to a convenient location.

Compatible vehicles

This splitter cable is universally compatible with virtually all vehicles featuring a standard 16-pin OBD2 diagnostic port. This includes most petrol vehicles from 2001 onwards and diesel vehicles from 2004 that meet the EOBD standard.

💡
Good to know: If you experience unexpected communication errors or connection drops while reading data, first disconnect the permanently connected dongle from the second branch. Both branches share the same data bus, and a tracker that continues transmitting on its own can interfere with your diagnostic device's traffic. For reading values this is rarely an issue; when coding or programming, it's best to have only one device connected.
