The Jaltest JDC218A is the diagnostic cable for the proprietary 3-pin connector found on older Isuzu commercial vehicles; the cable adapts that connector to the 16-pin OBD2 port on your Jaltest diagnostic equipment. On the vehicle side, you'll find the 3-pin connector that plugs into the diagnostic port in the cab, while the interface side features the 16-pin OBD2 plug for your Jaltest diagnostic cable. Isuzu used this connector before the mandatory 16-pin OBD2 standard was introduced.
Once connected, the Jaltest software gains access to the control units from the N, F and C/E series of that era. Coverage is built around the Electronic Diesel Control for each engine variant — such as 4HE1-TC for the N-series and 6SD1 (common rail) for the F-series — and on models with hydraulic brake control, you also get the ABS/ASR Hydraulic module. This makes it primarily an engine diagnostic cable for pre-OBD2 Isuzu commercial vehicle ranges. The cable falls under Jaltest CV (commercial vehicles).

Using this connection, you can access the vehicle's control units with Jaltest software. Isuzu organizes coverage by engine code; the units listed below are examples of what's available.

- 4HE1-TC, Electronic Diesel Control: Engine control for the N-series / Elf with this engine code.
- 6SD1, Electronic Diesel Control, Common Rail: Common-rail engine control for the F-series / Forward.
- ABS/ASR Hydraulic, Anti-lock hydraulic braking system: Hydraulic anti-lock and anti-slip system for lighter-duty models.
What you can do
- Read and clear fault codes: Access the control unit's fault memory with detailed descriptions of detected faults.
- View live data: Monitor real-time sensor values connected to the control unit in both numeric and graphical formats.
- Activate components: Directly trigger components to determine whether the fault lies with the part itself or in the wiring.
- Configure parameters: Write settings and configurations to the control unit.
- Perform calibrations: Run calibration procedures for systems where Jaltest offers them, such as after component replacement.
