The OBDSTAR MotoMaster update licence extends your right to software updates with one year. The MotoMaster is the comprehensive diagnostic device in the motorcycle range and operates on motorcycles, scooters, snowmobiles, ATVs, UTVs, electric two-wheelers and jet skis. With this distribution, an active licence is not merely a formality, as each segment receives its own supplementary updates.

Several MotoMaster functions also operate on only with an active licence. This applies to the ECU Programmer, the IMMO programming, Cluster Recalibration, remote assistance and integration with the OBDSTAR mobile app. When the licence expires, the device continues to operate for basic diagnostics on thelatest installed version, but those functions will be discontinued.

IMPORTANT NOTES

✕The licence is tied to one serial number and cannot be transferred to a second MotoMaster.
✕Without renewal, you lose far more than software updates alone, as ECU Flasher, IMMO programming and Cluster Recalibration require an active licence.
✕A renewal provides software only, not hardware, so the P003+ kit for IMMO bench work on Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha models must be purchased separately.
✕Which functions are available continues to vary by manufacturer, model and year of manufacture; a renewal does not change this.

Applications and functionality

An active licence keeps three components of the MotoMaster running. These are the vehicle coverage, the licence-dependent functions and the documentation on the device. Below is what a renewal provides and what stops working without one.

What a renewal gives you

  • New vehicle coverage: Motorcycles, scooters, snowmobiles, ATVs, UTVs, jet skis and electric two-wheelers each receive their own updates.
  • Licence-dependent functions: ECU Flasher, IMMO and key programming, Make Key and Cluster Recalibration remain available and support new models.
  • Updated service functions: Particulate filter regeneration, injector coding, electronic parking brake, steering angle sensor calibration and battery registration are continuously expanded.

What happens without renewal

  • New software: Wireless updates stop and the device remains on the version currently installed.
  • Licence-dependent functions: ECU Flasher, IMMO programming, Cluster Recalibration, remote assistance and app connectivity are disabled.
  • Existing diagnostics: Fault codes, live data, action tests, coding and service functions continue to work on already supported vehicles.

Good to know: With the MotoMaster, an expiring licence affects more than just the update list. Before renewing, check whether you use ECU Flasher, IMMO Programming or Cluster Recalibration — these functions stop working once the licence expires. You'll find the serial number in the settings menu under device information.

How does it work in practice?

From order to updated device, there are four steps. The serial number is the only thing you need to look up yourself.

  1. Provide serial number: When placing your order, enter your MotoMaster's serial number in the comments field.
  2. Activation: We link the licence to that serial number, usually within one working day.
  3. Connect device: Switch on the MotoMaster and connect it to wifi; the device operates on both 2.4 and 5 GHz.
  4. Install updates: Update the software with a single click directly from the device.
