Applications and functionality

Below is shown per configuration what you do with it. The table first shows what is yes and no included in this licence.

Configuration A — Passenger vehicles and electric vehicles

Configuration A opens the engine management, the transmission and the body of passenger vehicles, plus the battery management and the vehicle control module of electric vehicles.

• Getting a replacement control unit to work: Transfer the contents of the old controller to the new one so the vehicle recognises it supports.
• Accessing the automatic gearbox: A DSG unit read and write without taking the vehicle to the franchised dealer workshop.
• Electrical work: The battery management and vehicle control module access on models that support it enable.
• Back up beforehand: Read the existing software and store before writing anything to the vehicle.

Configuration B — Motorcycle

Configuration B unlocks the motorcycle engine management. This is within this platform the any configuration with motorcycle ECM.

• Keep motorcycle work indoors: Controllers for over one hundred manufacturers read, write and clone.
• Search controller by name: The software operates per controller type and not by model year, so you search based on what's actually in the engine.
• Deploying replacement ECM: A second-hand or prepare a new control unit for the motorcycle it needs to be installed in.
• Separate purchase: Motorcycle ECM is located in no other configuration, not even in the heaviest.

Configuration D — Security Systems

Configuration D focuses on what comes after a collision or a repair needs to be reset. These are the airbag control unit, the battery monitoring and the steering angle sensor.

• Complete damaged vehicle: The crash data clear from the airbag control unit after the replacement parts are installed.
• Register new battery: Reset the battery monitoring, so that the charging behaviour matches the battery installed in it.
• Learn sensor: Resetting and relearning the steering angle sensor after alignment or steering column work.
• In a single session: Perform the three operations in sequence without switching devices.

What you'll need

The ECU Master operates together with a computer. Without the components listed below, you cannot use the unlocked configuration no to use.

• An OBDSTAR ECU Master: The licence unlocks a device that you even if and is not supplied separately.
• A computer with Windows 10 or later: The ECU Master software runs on the PC and not on the device itself.
• An internet connection: The software logs in at startup to check which configurations are unlocked.
• An OBDSTAR account: This holds the unlock registered that we prepare for you.
• The serial number of your device: Found on the sticker on the underside and in the software under the device information.

How does it work in practice?

From order to working configuration there are four steps. The serial number is the only thing you need to locate yourself.

1. Provide serial number: Enter the serial number of your ECU Master during checkout; that is required.
2. We prepare it: We register the configuration unlock with OBDSTAR, typically within one working day.
3. Email confirmation: You will hear from us once the configuration on your serial number is shown.
4. Update the software: Log in to the PC software and retrieve the unlocked configuration; after that it will be in the menu.
