The Autel MaxiCom MK908 Pro update licence extends your entitlement to software updates for the MK908 Pro for one year. The MK908 Pro is the programming variant of the MK908 platform, featuring a J2534 interface. What sets it apart from the standard MK908 is the J2534 reprogramming capability, which allows you to replace software in control modules and configure new control units, including those for BMW and Mercedes-Benz. While your licence remains active, every new software version becomes available through the device's own update menu.

We bind the licence to the serial number of your MK908 Pro and process it within one working day; you don't need to register anything yourself. A licence renewal maintains vehicle coverage, coding files and crucially the programming files. When your licence expires, the MK908 Pro continues to operate on the last installed version and reading, clearing and live data functions remain available on already supported vehicles, but you won't be able to install new versions.

IMPORTANT NOTES

✕Each serial number is covered by one licence, so a second MK908 Pro in the same workshop requires its own renewal.
✕Without renewal, the programming files remain as they were, whilst manufacturers change them most rapidly in this area.
✕Updates cover the diagnostic software and not the operating system; this is a device from an older generation and a licence renewal does not change that.
✕Vehicle connection plays no role in updates; everything happens entirely via wifi and the charger.

Applications and functionality

An active licence covers three components of the MK908 Pro. These are vehicle coverage, function files and online services. Below is what a renewal provides and what happens if you do not renew.

What a renewal provides you with

  • New vehicle coverage: Brands, models and model years added since your last update become available within the existing diagnostic functions.
  • Broader service functions: Procedures such as oil service, TPMS reset, electronic parking brake, steering angle sensor and DPF regeneration continue to support newer vehicles as manufacturers modify their systems.
  • Programming files: The files behind ECU programming are expanded for newer control units.

What happens without renewal

  • No additional coverage: New vehicle coverage and new procedures will not be added to the device.
  • Online functions: Any features not already built into the software may become unavailable after the licence period ends.
  • Existing diagnostics: Reading, clearing, live data and active tests on already supported vehicles will continue to work normally.

How does it work in practice?

From order to updated device takes four steps. The serial number is the only thing you need to locate yourself.

  1. Provide serial number: Supply the serial number of your MK908 Pro when placing your order, so we know which device to bind the licence to.
  2. Activation: We bind the licence to that serial number, usually within one working day.
  3. Prepare the device: Connect the MK908 Pro to the charger and ensure a stable WiFi connection before starting the download.
  4. Install updates: Open the update menu, select the available versions and start the installation.
