The Jaltest JDC501A connects the manufacturer-specific 3-pin diagnostic connector of Steyr engines to the 16-pin OBD2 port, which the diagnostic cable of the Jaltest Link fits. On the machine side there is a round metal bayonet connector with a knurled ring, with a blue ring around the black insert and three round pins. The cable is 29-31 cm long.
Via this cable you can access the two Steyr engine control units covered by Jaltest, EDC CAN and UIS 1.0, with fault codes, measured values and ECU data. For the 6-pin connector, the JDC502A is available, which has a noticeably larger connector and a red ring. The cable works with the Jaltest Link V8.1 and V9 and falls under Jaltest OHW and Jaltest Marine.
KEY BENEFITS
POINTS TO NOTE
Applications and functionality
Via this connection, the Jaltest software accesses the engine control unit of the Steyr engine with 3-pin connector. Jaltest groups these control units in the Steyr Engines coverage group; the diagnostic connector is located on or next to the engine block.
Control units you can access
- EDC CAN: CAN version engine control.
- UIS 1.0: Engines with pump-injector units.
What you can do
- Fault codes: Read and clear.
- Measured values: With adjustable alarm limits.
- ECU data: Data from the control unit.
How to use it
- Check the connector: Locate the 3-pin connector with blue ring.
- Connect: Secure the JDC501A with the bayonet fitting.
- Link pairing: Connect the OBD2 side to the Jaltest cable.
- Ignition on: Switch the ignition on without starting the engine.
- Read out: Select Steyr Engines and the control unit.
Compatible engines and applications
The engine is decisive, not the machine in which it is installed. Steyr engines are fitted as a standalone drive, so Jaltest places the coverage with the engine itself. The same engine is therefore covered for stationary engines and for inboard marine engines; whether there is a 3-pin or a 6-pin connector on your engine block should be checked on site.
Steyr:
- Steyr Engines: The coverage group with EDC CAN and UIS 1.0.
- Stationary applications: Machines and units with a built-in Steyr engine.
- Inboard marine engines: Steyr is also covered by Jaltest for inboard marine engines.
