The Jaltest JDC620A is the adapter cable that connects the 8-pin diagnostic connector of MAN marine diesel engines to a standard 16-pin OBD2 interface. The engine side features the 8-pin connector, while the interface side has the 16-pin OBD2 plug for your Jaltest diagnostic cable. This connection is located at the engine or within the engine wiring harness of the installation.
The cable opens the diagnostic line to the engine control units: The common-rail engine control EDC 7 C3 and the dual configuration EDC 7 Master/Slave C3/C32 for V-engines, the engine control interface SFFR and the electronic throttle and reversing torque control Marex OS II CR-MCP. On these systems, coverage extends beyond reading data: component actuation, parameter adjustment, calibrations and resets are all included. For marine applications, the 16-pin OBD2 connector was never mandated, which is why this proprietary connection remains in use. The cable falls under Jaltest Marine.

Through this connection, you access the engine system control units using Jaltest software. Which systems are available depends on the engine series and installed controls.

- EDC 7 C3, Electronic Diesel Control, Common Rail: The common-rail engine management system for MAN marine diesels.
- EDC 7 Master/Slave C3/C32, Electronic Diesel Control, Common Rail: The same management system in the dual configuration of V-engines, with one control unit per cylinder bank.
- SFFR, Engine regulation interface: The interface between engine management and the rest of the system.
- Marex OS II CR-MCP, Digital throttle and shift: The electronic throttle and shift control system.
What you can do
- Read and clear fault codes: Access the control unit's fault memory with detailed descriptions of detected faults.
- View live data: Monitor current sensor readings connected to the control unit, displayed as numbers and graphs.
- Activate components: Directly trigger components to determine whether the fault lies with the part itself or in the wiring.
- Configure parameters: Write settings and configurations to the control unit.
- Perform calibrations: Run calibration procedures offered by Jaltest for compatible systems, such as after component replacement.
