The Jaltest JDC215A (also known as OBD215) is a specialized adapter cable designed to connect modern diagnostic equipment to older vans and light commercial vehicles from the General Motors (GM) group. This cable forms the indispensable bridge between the classic 12-pin ALDL (Assembly Line Diagnostic Link) diagnostic port of the vehicle and the standardized 16-pin OBD2 connector of the Jaltest main cable.
This adapter is essential for workshops servicing vehicles from the period before the introduction of the EOBD/OBD2 standard. Manufacturers such as GM used their own unique connectors at that time. Without this cable, reading fault codes and diagnosing engine problems on these vehicles is virtually impossible with modern diagnostic tools. The JDC215A is robustly built for long-term reliability in a professional environment.
Application and functionality:
- Access to the ECU: connection to the Engine Control Unit (engine computer) of the vehicle.
- Read and clear fault codes: reading early generation fault codes to analyze engine malfunctions.
- View live data: display of basic engine data such as RPM, sensor values (including oxygen sensor, MAP sensor) and temperatures.
- Check system status: insight into status of system flags and switches.
Suitable vehicles and applications:
This cable can be used on a range of vans and light commercial vehicles from General Motors and related brands from a specific period.
