The Jaltest JDC544A is the diagnostic cable that connects the 8-pin diagnostic connector of Hyster forklifts to the Jaltest Link. On the vehicle side, there's the 8-pin connector located in the operator's cabin of the forklift; on the interface side, the cable runs to the 16-pin OBD2 port of your Jaltest diagnostic cable. This connector is found on models equipped with EControls engine management, the control system for LPG and gasoline engines.
Behind this single connector lie two control units: The EControls ECM 4G engine controller for LPG and gasoline versions and the VECU, the truck's central vehicle computer. Through the Jaltest software, you can read fault codes, live data and maintenance information from the engine controller; and fault codes and live data from the VECU. The cable falls under Jaltest MHE (Material Handling Equipment) and Jaltest OHW (Off-Highway machines).

Using this connection, you can access the forklift's control units with Jaltest software. Which systems are available varies by series and engine type.
Control Units You Can Access
- EControls ECM 4G, Engine Control Module: The engine management for LPG and gasoline models, including fault codes, live data, and maintenance information.
- VECU, Body Computer: The truck's central vehicle computer, with fault codes and live data.
What You Can Do
- Read and clear fault codes: Access the control unit's fault memory with descriptions of detected faults.
- View live data: Monitor current sensor readings connected to the control unit, displayed as values and graphs.
- Check maintenance information: View service intervals for EControls engine management; this function is not covered for the VECU.
Compatible Vehicles and Applications
The engine control type determines compatibility, not the model year. This cable fits Hyster forklifts with EControls engine management and the 8-pin diagnostic connector. Jaltest covers the series listed below; verify which connector is on your truck on-site.
