The Jaltest JDC103A is an adapter cable that converts a 7-pin round connection (Wabco/Knorr-Bremse) to a 16-pin OBD2 port (J1962). The cable is intended for diagnosing trailers and semi-trailers equipped with brake and stability systems from Wabco or Knorr-Bremse. One end features a 7-pin round plug with a robust screw ring for a locked connection; the other end has a standard 16-pin OBD2 female connector that connects to the Jaltest diagnostic cable.

The cable enables communication between Jaltest diagnostic equipment and the electronic brake systems (EBS) and anti-lock braking systems (ABS) used by Wabco and Knorr-Bremse in trailer applications. Signals such as K-line are routed through the 7-pin diagnostic port on the trailer to the OBD2 interface of the diagnostic device. The robust design of the round connector with screw locking ensures a stable electrical connection during reading, even in workshop environments with mechanical stress.

ADVANTAGES

The 7-pin round connector with screw ring locks mechanically, ensuring a stable connection during diagnosis.
Supports diagnosis of both Wabco and Knorr-Bremse brake systems via a single cable.
Connects directly to the standard OBD2 interface of the Jaltest diagnostic cable without additional adapters.

KEY POINTS

Only compatible with Jaltest diagnostic equipment; not usable with diagnostic equipment from other brands.
Not suitable for diagnosis of tractors; the cable is exclusively intended for trailers and semi-trailers.
The 7-pin port location varies by manufacturer and trailer configuration; consult the vehicle documentation for the exact port position.

Applications and functionalities

The JDC103A supports the following diagnostic functions on trailers and semi-trailers with Wabco or Knorr-Bremse brake systems via Jaltest diagnostic equipment.

  • Error code management EBS/ABS: Reading and clearing stored fault codes in the electronic braking system (EBS) and the anti-lock braking system (ABS) of the trailer.
  • Live data reading: Real-time display of sensor values and system parameters from the trailer's brake and stability system.
  • System identification: Reading vehicle and system identification data, including software versions and component information from the control unit.
  • Activation and calibration tests: Performing actuator tests and calibration routines on brake system components via the Jaltest diagnostic software.

Compatible vehicles and applications

The compatibility below is based on the use of Wabco and Knorr-Bremse brake systems with a 7-pin diagnostic port in trailers and semi-trailers. Consult the Jaltest documentation for a complete and up-to-date vehicle list.

Trailer and semi-trailer systems:

  • Knorr-Bremse: Semi-trailers and trailers with Knorr-Bremse EBS and ABS systems equipped with a 7-pin diagnostic port.
  • Wabco: Semi-trailers and trailers with Wabco EBS and ABS systems equipped with a 7-pin diagnostic port.
💡
Good to know: The 7-pin diagnostic port on trailers is usually located near the front undercarriage or chassis. The exact location varies by trailer manufacturer and model year.
