The Launch X-431 Pro Dyno update licence extends your entitlement to software updates for the Pro Dyno by one year. What the device can do is determined by the software and not the hardware. The Pro Dyno is a 10.1-inch diagnostic tablet running Android 10 with the wireless DBScar VII interface, which supports CAN FD and DoIP. A period of updates is included at purchase; after that, this extension keeps the supply of updates going.

The licence is tied to the serial number of your Pro Dyno, not to an account or a code. We activate it within one working day on the serial number of your device. An extension keeps the vehicle coverage, the coding files and the maintenance and reset functions up to date. When the term expires, nothing changes to what is already on the device, but new software is no longer added.

POINTS TO NOTE

✕One serial number is covered by one licence, so a second Pro Dyno in the same workshop needs its own extension.
✕An extension does not add ECU programming: with the standard DBScar VII, flashing remains out of reach; the SmartLink C is required for that.
✕An extension provides software and no hardware, so the ADAS calibration frames, the X-PROG 3 and the BST360 must still be purchased separately.
✕The secure gateway of Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge requires its own AutoAuth account; that is not included in this licence.

Applications and functionality

Three things on the Pro Dyno depend on the licence. The vehicle coverage determines which vehicles the device recognises, the function files determine what it may do with them, and the online services provide what comes in from outside.

What an extension gives you

  • New vehicle coverage: Brands, models and model years added since your last update become available within the existing diagnostic functions.
  • Coding files: The files behind ECU coding and guided functions are expanded for newer control units.
  • Service functions: New and corrected service and reset procedures are added through the same updates.
  • Fixes and improvements: Error corrections and faster routines in the software itself are included.

What happens without an extension

  • No additions: New coverage and new procedures will no longer be added to the device.
  • Online functions: Anything the software does not carry on board itself, such as online coding, may no longer be available after the licence expires.
  • No loss of functionality: What you do with the Pro Dyno today, you can still do after the licence expires.

How does it work in practice?
