The Jaltest JDC110A is an adapter that hangs as a T-piece in the 7-pin ISO 7638-1 connection between towing vehicle and semi-trailer. The black, round housing has a plug with pins on one side and the round opening with an upstanding lug on the other, so the existing connection continues through. At right angles to it runs a short cable of 22 to 29 cm to a 16-pin OBD2 plug.

Via this branch, the diagnostic equipment gains access to the CAN line that runs through the connection, and therefore to the ABS/EBS of the trailer. Because the connection is standardised, you are not tied to a single chassis builder. This version is specified for 24V and for the Jaltest Link V8.1 and V9, and falls under Jaltest CV.

POINTS TO NOTE

✕Only reaches semi-trailers that carry CAN on the ISO 7638-1 connection. If the trailer electronics send their data over the power line according to SAE J2497, then the JDC112A is the correct one.

✕This is the 24V version to ISO 7638-1; the 12V version to ISO 7638-2 has the number JDC110B.

✕At 22 to 29 cm you work at the coupling on the front of the semi-trailer, not from the cab.

✕Which control units you find is determined by the semi-trailer itself and not by this adapter.

Via this branch, you gain access to the trailer CAN network. For the ABS/EBS, the ISO 7638-1 connection is the standardised power and data route. Which other control units are on the network differs per semi-trailer and per chassis builder.

Start the software: Open Jaltest CV on the PC.

Reading out: Select the trailer and the system.

Compatible vehicles and applications

What matters is the plug, not the brand. This adapter fits any semi-trailer or trailer with a 7-pin ISO 7638-1 connection on which CAN runs. That connection is located at the front of the semi-trailer, at the coupling with the towing vehicle.

Good to know: On the ISO 7638 connection, the CAN line runs through. If the trailer electronics send their data over the power line according to SAE J2497, then the JDC112A is the one for that. Check this on the semi-trailer itself before ordering.
