The Topdon TopScan Moto is a fault code reader in the form of a VCI dongle, designed for performing diagnostics and maintenance on motorcycles. The VCI connects via Bluetooth 5.0 to an iOS or Android smartphone, where the accompanying app provides the interface for all functions. The system supports full system diagnostics, reading and clearing fault codes, viewing live data and more than 13 service functions. The licence includes 1 year of free updates.

This diagnostic device offers additional functionalities such as actuator testing to directly control and verify components. The Software also provides access to Technical Service Bulletins (TSB), which contain technical information and repair instructions from the manufacturer. Users can generate, save and share detailed diagnostic reports after each session. The compact form factor of the VCI makes it a portable solution for diagnostic work.

Diagnostic functions:

The Topdon TopScan Moto performs a full system diagnostic on all available electronic control units of the motorcycle.

• Read and clear fault codes: Reads and clears fault codes (DTCs) from all available systems, including engine, ABS and instrument cluster. Fault code definitions are displayed immediately.
• Live data: Displays real-time data from sensors and components in various formats, such as graphs and text. This allows you to monitor and analyse system performance.
• Actuator testing: Controls individual components and actuators directly to test functionality without dismantling the component. This allows, for example, injectors, fans or valves to be activated.
• Read ECU information: Retrieves details from the control unit, such as software version, part number and other specifications.

Service and maintenance functions:

The Topdon TopScan Moto supports more than 13 service functions for motorcycle repair and maintenance. Available functions may vary by brand and model.

Engine and drivetrain:

• Reset service interval: Resets the service lamp and maintenance interval after performing a service.
• Throttle body learning: Initialises the throttle actuators so the control unit can relearn throttle positions after replacement or cleaning.
• Adjust idle speed: Allows you to adjust the engine idle speed for stable operation.
• CO adjustment: Adjusts the carbon dioxide emission value to meet emissions standards or for optimum performance.
• Set air–fuel ratio (A/F): Sets the air–fuel ratio for efficient combustion and engine performance.
• Reset ECU: Restores the engine control unit to factory default settings, which can be useful after repairs.

Brakes and safety systems:

• ABS bleeding: Performs the automatic bleeding procedure for the anti-lock braking system to remove air from the brake system and restore braking performance.
• Reset tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS): Resets the TPMS and relearns sensors after sensor or tyre replacement.

Electronics and instruments:

• Key programming (IMMO): Provides functions for learning new keys and managing the starter interrupt. The exact functionality varies by brand.
• Read mileage: Reads the stored mileage from the control unit to verify the value on the instrument cluster.

Special functions and features:

The TopScan Moto provides access to additional technical information and reporting functions.

Optional additions and extensions:

The device features a 16-pin OBD2 connector, whilst most motorcycles use manufacturer-specific diagnostic connectors. An adapter cable is therefore required in most cases. Additionally, the software licence can be renewed after the first year.
