The Xhorse Key Tool Lite is a compact key programmer that works in combination with a smartphone. The device connects to an Android or iOS device via a USB-C port and operates the NFC functionality through the accompanying app for reading, generating, and programming remote controls and transponder keys.
The Key Tool Lite communicates wirelessly with Xhorse Super Remotes and VVDI transponders via the built-in NFC reading field on the front. Keys are placed on the device, after which the app reads, copies, or generates a new remote control from the chip data. The smartphone also supplies power, so no external power source is needed.

Applications and functionalities
The Key Tool Lite supports the following key and remote control operations:
- Remote generate: Creates a working Super Remote via the app, ready to be paired with a vehicle.
- Remote detect: Checks the frequency and button function of existing remotes to determine defects or compatibility.
- Transponder read: Identifies the chip type of a key via the NFC field for further processing.
- Transponder copy: Duplicates supported transponders onto a blank VVDI chip for spare keys.
- Remote reset: Restores a previously used Super Remote to factory settings so it can be paired again.
