The timing set (VTN1098) is designed for locking the camshafts and crankshaft. This tool is used during maintenance of the timing chain on various 1.4 and 1.6 liter gasoline engines found in models from Citroën, Peugeot, and MINI.
This 10-piece set includes specific tools for fixing the camshafts in the correct position, a crankshaft locking pin via the flywheel, and a dummy chain tensioner for properly setting the chain tension. The set is supplied in a plastic storage case.
Application and functionality:
This set provides the necessary tools for correctly performing timing maintenance on Prince engines.
- Locking the camshafts: The bridge tool fixes the intake and exhaust camshafts in the correct position relative to each other and the crankshaft.
- Locking the crankshaft: The supplied pin is inserted through an opening in the engine block into the flywheel to lock the crankshaft at top dead center (TDC).
- Pre-tensioning the timing chain: The dummy chain tensioner simulates the working pressure of the hydraulic tensioner, which is necessary to bring the chain to the correct tension during installation.
