- Locking the crankshaft: Locks the crankshaft via the flywheel or flexplate, ensuring the TDC position of the first cylinder.
- Dismantling the high-pressure pump gear: Allows removal of the high-pressure pump gear without damaging the timing chain.
- Fixing the crankshaft pulley: Holds the crankshaft pulley in place during loosening or tightening of the central bolt.
- Securing the chain tensioner: The locking pin is used to secure the hydraulic chain tensioner in the retracted position.
