The VT13516 is a 16-piece spark plug thread repair kit specifically designed for repairing damaged M14 x 1.25mm threads in cylinder heads. The set includes a reamer tap and 15 thread inserts in various lengths and finishes, allowing repair without disassembling the cylinder head.
The included M16 x 1.25mm tap is used to ream the damaged thread, after which one of the M14 x 1.25mm thread inserts can be installed. The set contains inserts with lengths of 11.2mm and 17.5mm, with different finishes such as black oxide and yellow zinc plated. All components are made of hardened steel and come in a plastic storage case for organization and protection of the tools.
Application and functionality:
This set provides a method for repairing spark plug threads directly on the engine.
- Reaming threads: The M16 x 1.25mm tap enlarges the original damaged M14 thread to a new, clean M16 thread.
- Installing thread inserts: A steel thread insert is placed into the newly tapped thread, which has the correct internal M14 x 1.25mm thread for the spark plug.
- Different lengths: The availability of inserts with lengths of 11.2mm and 17.5mm makes the set suitable for various spark plug hole depths in different engine types.
- Durable repair: The steel thread insert provides a stronger thread connection than the original thread, for example in an aluminum cylinder head.
