The timing set (VT01968B) is designed for adjusting and locking the camshafts and crankshaft during maintenance of the timing chain on Mercedes-Benz M157, M276, and M278 engines. This set is assembled to ensure correct engine timing during the installation and removal of the timing chain and related components.
The set includes tools for holding the camshafts in the correct position, a T100 Torx bit socket for the central bolt of the crankshaft pulley, and an Adapter for rotating the crankshaft. Additionally, the necessary fastening bolts and a locking pin for the chain tensioner are included. All parts are supplied in a plastic storage case for easy transport and storage.
Application and functionality:
This set is used for performing maintenance on the timing system, such as replacing the timing chain or checking and adjusting the engine timing.
- Camshaft locking: For fixing the four camshafts in the BDP position (top dead center) during timing adjustment.
- Crankshaft rotation: Enables precise rotation of the crankshaft with the included Adapter.
- Assembly and disassembly: The T100 Torx bit socket is intended for loosening and tightening the central bolt of the crankshaft pulley.
- Fixing the tensioner: The locking pin is used to keep the timing chain tensioner in the retracted position.
