The timing set (VT01740) is a collection of tools for locking the camshafts and crankshaft of various BMW V8 and V12 petrol engines. This set is specifically developed for the N62 and N73 engines and is used during maintenance and repair work on the distribution system, such as replacing the timing chain or the cylinder head gasket.
The set contains all necessary components for the correct adjustment of the engine timing. This includes, among others, locking tools for the intake and exhaust camshafts, a setting pin for the crankshaft, a tool for pre-tensioning the timing chain, and various aids for aligning the VANOS adjusters. The parts are supplied in a plastic storage case.
