The timing set (VT01703) is a comprehensive collection of tools for adjusting and locking the camshafts and crankshaft on a wide range of BMW petrol engines. The set is specifically developed for maintenance work on the timing chain, the VANOS system, and the cylinder head of M40, M44, M50, M52, M54, and M56 engines.

This 11-piece set contains all necessary components for engines with both single VANOS (M50, M52) and double VANOS (M52TU, M54, M56). Included are various camshaft alignment plates, a crankshaft locking pin, a tool for the chain tensioner, and specific tools for adjusting the VANOS unit. All parts are supplied in a plastic storage case.

Application and functionality:

This set makes it possible to accurately set the timing when replacing the timing chain, the cylinder head gasket, or performing other engine maintenance.

• Locking the crankshaft: Locks the crankshaft in the TDC position (Top Dead Center) using a locking pin for correct timing.
• Aligning the camshafts: The supplied alignment tools fix the camshafts in the correct position relative to each other and the crankshaft.
