The timing set (VT01697) is a collection of tools for locking the camshafts and crankshaft. This set is specifically developed for maintenance and repair of the timing chain of various VAG 2.7L and 3.0L V6 TDI common rail engines, as well as certain 4.0L and 4.2L V8 TDI engines.
The set includes, among other things, a crankshaft locking pin, camshaft locking tools, various locking pins for the chain tensioner, and special turning tools for the crankshaft and camshafts. All parts are supplied in a plastic storage case for storage and transport.
Application and functionality:
This set is used for adjusting and checking the engine timing during maintenance of the timing chain.
- Locking the crankshaft: A locking pin for fixing the crankshaft in the TDC position (Top Dead Center).
- Locking the camshafts: Tools for locking the camshafts in the correct position relative to the crankshaft.
- Turning the engine: Various adapters and wrenches for manually turning the crankshaft and camshafts during adjustment work.
- Tensioning the timing chain: Locking pins for securing the hydraulic chain tensioners during assembly or disassembly.
