The timing set (VT01554C) is a collection of tools for locking the crankshaft and camshaft during timing chain work. This set is specifically developed for 1.6, 2.0, and 3.0 liter diesel engines of BMW and MINI with engine codes N47, N47S, N57, and N57S.
The set contains parts for locking the camshaft, positioning the crankshaft, and dismantling the sprocket of the high-pressure fuel pump. Using this tool ensures correct engine adjustment when replacing the timing chain or performing other engine maintenance. The parts are supplied in a plastic storage case.
Application and functionality:
This set is used for adjusting and locking the engine components during timing work.
- Locking the camshaft: The camshaft locking tool is used to fix the camshafts in the correct position.
- Positioning the crankshaft: The turning tool and flywheel locking pin are used to set and hold the crankshaft at the top dead center (TDC) of the first cylinder.
- Counter-holding the crankshaft pulley: The counter-holder is used to fix the crankshaft pulley when loosening and tightening the central bolt.
- Dismantling the high-pressure pump sprocket: Specific tool for safely removing the sprocket from the high-pressure fuel pump.
- Locking of the chain tensioner: The locking pins are used to secure the chain tensioner in the retracted position.
