The timing set (VT01554) is developed for locking the crankshaft and removing the high-pressure pump during maintenance of the timing chain on various BMW and MINI vehicles. Using this tool ensures correct timing when replacing the timing chain or performing other engine repairs.
The set contains specific tools for fixing the crankshaft pulley, a pin for locking the crankshaft in the TDC position, a puller for the high-pressure fuel pump gear, and a turning tool for the crankshaft. All parts are supplied in a plastic storage case.
Application and functionality:
This set provides the necessary tools for correctly performing work on the timing of N47 and N47S engines.
- Locking the crankshaft pulley: The counter tool prevents the crankshaft from turning when loosening and tightening the central bolt.
- Fixing the crankshaft: The pin locks the flywheel to hold the engine at top dead center (TDC).
- Removing the high-pressure pump gear: The puller allows the removal of the high-pressure pump gear without damaging the timing chain.
- Turning the crankshaft: With the special turning tool, the engine can be accurately positioned for timing and adjustment work.
