VT01517B | BMW - M42/M50/M52/M54 | Timing set (4-piece)

The timing set (VT01517B) is developed for locking the camshafts and crankshaft when performing maintenance on the timing of various BMW 4- and 6-cylinder petrol engines. This tool is suitable for engine types M42, M50, M52, and M54, which have been applied in a wide range of BMW models.

This 4-piece set contains a camshaft alignment plate, a crankshaft locking pin, and a special key for the Vanos unit. The tools are intended for the correct setting of the engine timing after replacement of the timing chain, cylinder head gasket, or other engine repairs. The set is delivered in a storage case for organization and protection.

Application and functionality:

This set is used for adjusting and checking engine timing during maintenance and repair work.

• Camshaft alignment: Locks the camshafts in the correct position relative to each other and the cylinder head.
• Crankshaft fixation: Secures the crankshaft via the flywheel in the TDC (Top Dead Center) position of the first cylinder.
