The timing set (VT01173) is a 34-piece set, designed for locking and adjusting the camshaft, crankshaft, and injection pump. The Tools are used when replacing the timing belt or chain and during engine repairs on a wide range of gasoline and diesel engines from the VAG group (Volkswagen, Audi, Seat, Skoda).
The set contains various specific components such as locking pins, camshaft gauges, adjustment plates, and tensioning tools. These parts are required for correctly positioning engine parts and properly tensioning the timing belt. The Package Contents are suitable for both older TDI and SDI engines as well as more modern FSI and TFSI petrol engines.
Application and functionality:
This set is used for performing maintenance and repairs on the timing systems of various VAG engines. The tools have the following functions:
- Locking camshafts: Secures the camshafts in the correct position using camshaft gauges, adjustment plates, and specific locking tools.
- Fixing the crankshaft: Locks the crankshaft at top dead center (TDC) using various locking pins and stops.
- Locking the injection pump gear: Secures the timing of the diesel injection pump by locking the gear during the installation of the timing belt.
- Adjusting the belt tensioner: Enables correct tensioning of the timing belt using tensioner wrenches and other tensioning tools.
